STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

Stabilising Structures

Structural problems with load bearing timbers or wall issues such as bulging, bowing or cracking, should be dealt with immediately to prevent the possibility of collapse.

Our modern wall stabilisation and structural repair techniques are a much less disruptive way to deal with masonry damage than the traditional solutions of replacing timbers or rebuilding of walls, see below for further details and contact our team for more information or to book a no-obligation survey.

Wall tie replacement

Wall ties are an essential part of any building constructed with cavity, tying together the outer skin of brickwork to the structural inner masonry walls.

When masonry ties fail these walls become independent of each other, causing the property to become structurally unsafe. Symptoms of this can be cracks and/or bulging in brickwork, separation of window reveals and sagging lintels.

Our expert surveying and replacement techniques including the use of specialist equipment such as metal detectors and borescopes enable us to conduct thorough examination and repair whilst minimising disruption to the homeowner.

CRACK STITCHING

Masonry cracks can appear due to the expansion and contraction of the wall as the temperature changes, when mortar is eroded by freeze/thaw moisture changes or even ground vibration due to heavy traffic.

Crack stitching is a quick yet effective technique we can use to stabilise vertical cracks, by removing mortar from the horizontal joint and installing a stainless steel rod supported by a specialist resin. The mortar joint is then repointed in order to hide the repair and retain the original appearance of the wall.

STRUCTURAL TIMBER REPAIR

When large structural timbers become weakened by issues such as fungal decay, to replace them would be both costly and incredibly disruptive.

As a leading timber preservation specialist, we can implement techniques such as steel plate bolt ons, resin repairs or splice repairs that can restore structural stability with much less inconvenience and expense.
