OVERSLEY CASTLE, WIXFORD
Oversley Castle is a development of four existing barns, converted to a very high standard into unique luxury homes designed for 21st century living, yet retaining many of the original features, along with the transformation of an existing house and swimming pool, into a four bedroom split level high specification property.
Since our initial site visit we have carried out nearly every aspect of work within our industry, from chemical injection to all existing buildings, to treatments for Common Furniture Beetle and Death Watch beetle infestations to all retained woodwork of the barns.
The most extensive work was being undertaken to the magnificent 17c Grade II listed “Tudor Barn”, where the external ground levels were an issue on a number of the existing walls, which required the use of cementitious tanking and internal cavity membranes. The new build garages and the existing underground garages (grade 1 BS-8102-2009) which were built/converted required the use of a Type A external tanking membrane, for which a design specification and schedule was provided and the work successfully carried out in 2016.
The last of the buildings to be completed is the “Pool House” which sits in the site of what was the original swimming pool and is to become a stunning split level property with part of the accommodation below ground and the main living areas on the ground floor with a hard-landscaped roof forming part of the garden area. Thorough knowledge and understanding of BS-8102-2009 was needed to provide a design specification to cater for this new build property and a specification was drawn up with the assistance of Delta Membrane Systems, to enable the developer to be confident that when finally constructed, the entire construction would be watertight and fully protected from the ground upwards! The external membrane work has been completed and the work to the roof and internal areas is scheduled to be carried out very soon.
